The Lord is my Shepherd

Dearly beloved, this Psalm has accompanied me for a very long time, since early childhood it touched my heart and I would like to pray it with you today:

A Psalm of David

The LORD is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.

Yes Jesus, You are the ONE good Shepherd, Who watches over us that we won't get lost, Who leads us to peace and quenches our thirst.

He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

Yes Jesus, You provide us with strength which gives us courage and leads us on the right path whilst You stand true to Your Word to complete the good work that You destined for each of us.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.

Yes Jesus, regardless of how dark our life may seem at the moment, or what challenges we may face, You are there to comfort us and give us mercy, in Your arms we continue to find a safe harbour, to feel secure even if others leave us, You always remain!

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Yes Jesus, You provide for us even when others begrudge us or wish us harm. You give this as a sign, not because we are better, but because of Your mercy. You ensure that, out of all our unsatisfactory strife, blessings arise so that others may recognise it and acknowledge that You are our Lord and Shepherd. Thank You Jesus that Your promises are valid unto eternity.
