You are Mine

“But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and He that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art Mine.”

Isaiah 43:1

Lately we have been pondering upon the “I am” - words of Jesus and God. We discovered that it is more about us, about how we can live purpose-filled, future-orientated lives. It is Jesus who makes it possible for us to come to the Father. That was His main purpose for coming to earth, to us humans. And it is God the Father whose love for us is unchangeable and who longs for fellowship with us. He created us and wants to be our Father.

And God does not only speak about Himself, He also speaks to you personally. And so we go from God's “I am” to God's “you are”. As we have experienced God's love already in the words “I am”, we experience it even more precisely in today's scripture when He says: “You are Mine!”

After mankind, since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, lived in sin, thus in separation and distance from God, God tells us here, in view of what Jesus did for us on the cross of Golgotha, that He has absolved us. Through Jesus, God removed the separation which man brought upon himself and upon all future generations. And this does not just apply in general, no, it applies to you personally. “I called you by your name!” God means you personally! You, who are unique under the people, with all your good sides, but also with all your mistakes – precisely you He calls by name.

When I look at my own life, I sometimes ask myself, how can God take an interest in me. However, Jesus went to the cross precisely for people like you and me. As imperfect as we are, God love us!

And when you want to accept this salvation for yourself, and want to follow Him who calls you by your name, then you are completely and totally God's child, then you are His.

Have you accepted His invitation or are you still hesitating? God already did His part, now it is up to you how you will spend your time in eternity!

I wish you a blessed day – and think about it: you are His!
