Faith is what you make of it

“And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”

Romans 5:3-5

Some things in life are destiny, events which we can't change and for which we are not responsible. For example, the question as to whether we are masculine or feminine, in which country we are born, who our parents are, our size, our hair colour, and so forth... we have no influence over any of these things. But how does that compare to what we ourselves make of it?

There are many more things in our lives, which we ourselves choose, things which take us in one particular direction because we purport it.

It already starts with the smallest things. I am not a morning person. I am in fact quite useless before my first coffee. But, what about when the alarm clock goes off? Do you get up or do you push the snooze button? When you arrive at work or school, do you greet others cheerfully, or do you go and sit in your place silently and sullenly? When unobserved, do you continue working, or do you allow yourself a break?

All this relies upon your decision – and all this influences your life. Everything you do reflects on your future, it is not dependent upon fate, but from how you presently live.

Your faith is exactly the same. There are people who, as soon as things don't go well, they immediately start doubting and asking whether God even exists. There are people who are not always well-liked by others and ask themselves how God could possibly love them. There are people who have little money and doubt whether God really is our provider...

Exactly as with the above questions, such a lifestyle and belief-system influences your future. When you remain too long in this attitude, you will lose your faith completely one day.

Almost everything in life and in faith is a question of choice. How you can decide to live a meaningful life, how you can decide to love other people, in like manner you can also decide to pursue faith.

“Nevertheless” is one of the most important words in life. If you don't allow circumstances to drag you down, when you don't see hardship and suffering as your permanent fate, but say “nevertheless” and “precisely now”. In this manner, an affliction which you are perhaps experiencing now, can strengthen you. Your future is dependent upon your giving up or your not settling with your present situation.

God loves you, regardless of your choice – but you can only perceive His love within you, when you decide for Him!

What decisions do you want to make today?

I wish you a blessed day, with the right choice for God.
