Christian devotions in the Daily-Message

Hope for a hopeless world!

“Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall He find faith on the earth?''

Luke 18:8b

On Friday evening the Baptist Association invited us to a talk. The organizers were the two Baptist Churches in our city. The theme of the talk “Hope for a hopeless world”. The evening consisted of a dinner paid by the Association. 70 people were given the opportunity to partake in this interesting event. An invitation which consists of two free events, one would think, would make for a special incentive. One would think so, however we discovered that not even half of the desired amount of people would partake in this evening. They simply would not accept the invitation!

Hope for a hopeless world? I am not sure that there is still hope. People are just not approachable any more, have no interest in faith, not even in a free meal. They are satiated with everything that keeps them busy and satisfied.

Ephesians 4:18 “Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart.”

Unfortunately, they are not aware that they had the opportunity to eat with the King personally. Because God is the Host at every Christian event. He invites us to meet with Him. At the latest, in the presentation, everyone became aware that, in declining the invitation, they had lost out on the opportunity. God knocked on the doors of their hearts, but they did not open.

Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.”

But, thank the Lord that there is still hope in a hopeless world, because we are still living in the “today” of which the Bible speaks.

Hebrews 3:7-15 “Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My works forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known My ways. So I sware in My wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; While it is said, today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.”

Amen

Be very blessed
