Period witnesses

“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.”

1 John 1:1-3

When we look in history books, whether school books or other, we find a lot of stories about past years. The old Egyptians, the Greeks and the Romans tell us what transpired thousands of years ago. Often this is all based on a single parchment which was written by one of the old chroniclers.

But, I already noticed during my school years, that one finds nothing of the history of Jesus in any of these books. It is not history, it is a matter of faith which has no place in the history books.

However, contrary to the stories about Nefertiti or Caesar, there are hundreds of handwritten parchments about Jesus, found over the years. Many period witnesses, as John in today's scripture, wrote about their experiences with God's Son. No other past history is as well-documented as that of Jesus. And here it is not a case of some or other chronicler's historical narrative which they heard, but about people who personally spent years with Jesus.

Of whom should a precise science believe more today?

Jesus came to earth, He lived here, taught, died and rose from the dead. It is better documented than the story of Caesar's murder by Brutus. And still people try to nullify these events!

We must only accept by faith that which we cannot know. But, we know a lot about Jesus. Why is it so difficult for many to take by faith that little bit which remains?

Have you ever thought about your faith, how much you don't have to take by faith, because you can know it if you read your Bible? It is the best witnessed Book of History!

So my wish for you is that Jesus whom the Bible testifies of, comes into your heart and that you believe in Him and His Father.

I wish you a blessed day with Him!
