No pain, no gain

Yesterday I changed my telephone service provider. First, the long wait before the technician finally comes to unblock everything... but then it really started. The router and telephones had to be completely set up again from the start. I know a bit about technology, but also had to google certain things first.

At one point I tried by “trial and error”... however, now everything seems to be functioning again. It still took up half the day before everything was in a functional state again.

There are also situations in our lives on which we have to really work before everything functions satisfactorily. For example, friendships or relationships tend to take time to build and stabilize, before they are the way we imagined them to be.

But, even the way to faith is not done with the snap of a finger. While it can happen quickly that I realize that I am a sinner and need Jesus for my salvation, this is however only the first step. Because real, true, living faith is more than an acknowledgement. God wants a real relationship with us, He wants to talk to us over everything and wants to be present in our daily lives.

In my early days, I could just say a well-worded prayer before eating or going to bed. It takes many years before this recital becomes a real conversation. Today I speak to God about everything in my life, whether it be gratitude, sadness, anger or also joy. God wants to share all of this with us.

Fellowship with God doesn’t only begin when we finally get to Him in heaven. He wants to live with us here and now.
