God's wrath – our witness

They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.”

Ezekiel 7:19

The Prophet Ezekiel declared the downfall of Jerusalem – the false prophets said the opposite, saying that a loving God would never allow it (Ezekiel 13:1-16). The religious do-good ministers and moral-apostles argue in precisely the same manner today. They say that they are doing well and that all one's needs will be met, and in the end reason will regulate everything. They want to make things work somehow – even without God! This is the situation in the world today. Gospel preachers are also struggling against windmills and false prophets and the erroneous belief of many people with regard to solving the problems of the world. Certainly one also contends against atheists or people with erroneous beliefs, who either discuss the slander of Christians or their imagined fantasies. It is said that there is no God and that, fundamentally, it has always been the pious who have been responsible for all the unhappiness in the world – such as religious wars, fundamentalists, terrorists, crusades, fanatics, inquisitions and mental attitudes which state that there is only one way which leads to heaven, salvation and peace with God (John 14:6). For many this is the height of intolerance and therefore rigorously rejected. That man is evil, in accordance with the Bible, many see as pious incitement and lovelessness. And someone who preaches God's judgement, His righteousness, holiness and wrath, is spurned. However the God of the Bible is also a God of wrath. When one becomes aware of this, no possessions, influence, and religiosity will be of benefit. Our soul needs God – it comes from the eternal God and belongs to HIM. That we are alive was never our own idea.

That God is God, some only experience when it is too late or when they come face to face with God's wrath. Perhaps that which is happening in the world today, is already judgement and predecessors of the coming dark ruler – the Antichrist who is coming!? He will also profess to be able to solve problems. But, do people wake up now? Hopefully, and I think there are people who, through spirit and truth recognize the signs of the times and acknowledge God's gift of saving grace so that they may not perish in their souls, but live (Luke 13:3). Basically, people should be grateful that there are still Christians who can and want to tell them about God and reveal Him to them. Thus we become (in all our weaknesses) the salt of the earth. In Matthew 5:13 we read: “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.” One can definitely say this about Ezekiel too, who spoke to the people in his time, in an awe-inspiring manner which was effective even without words. And whoever listened to him was simultaneously blessed by God. It would be awesome and of great value if the same could be said about us. Amen.
